Mighty machines from Finland take over Cable Factory

This summer an unprecedented exhibition on the industrial design of Finnish companies will be on display in the Merikaapelihalli in Helsinki's Cable Factory. The extensive HI Design 2012 exhibition will explain the effect design has had on Finland's success and the surprising ways in which design can be influential. HI Design 2012 will highlight a meeting point for high-quality design and technology. Visitors will gain a new perspective on everyday objects such as mobile telephones, and will be able to take a closer look at the equipment and machines used in heavy industry.

The exhibition will detail the significance of design - about how, regardless of field, well-executed design can help to create durable, usable and attractive products, which are efficient to manufacture. Participating are some of Finland's top companies, such as Nokia, KONE, Konecranes, Rocla, Patria, Planmeca, Planmed, ABB and Link Design.

“Rocla’s solutions and design focus on people, the users of trucks – keeping their work and performance in mind ensures optimal support for our customers. As design is integrated into people’s everyday lives, it is significant that HI Design 2012 brings industrial design for everyone to see. Rocla’s award-winning high-end products, ATX automated truck and Rapid low level order picker, bring the concept of smooth logistics close to each visitor”, states Tapio Rummukainen, Rocla’s CEO.

What and where?

The exhibition presents the design work of forerunning Finnish companies. The items on show reveal how design can be used to create functional, attractive products with an efficient manufacturing process in every sector. The idea is to offer visitors the opportunity to see and experience both products they rarely come across and to provide new perspectives to everyday products like mobile phones.
The exhibition is at Kaapelitehdas (Cable Factory), Tallberginkatu 1, Helsinki. The exciting exhibition is open from 8th of June to 2nd of September. Entry is free and it will be open to the public from Thursdays to Sundays during exhibition weeks.
